Monday 7th April 2014
The day started like any other: waking up, having breakfast, going to school. But the difference was that we went into a lesson with our hosts/hostesses. Suddenly we heard Finnish and Swedish sentences and a lot of interested students greeted us in the class. Some participants took part in Swedish lessons, physic lessons, sewing lessons and cooking lessons. It was a new experience for everyone, for example read Swedish texts about football.
Then we met everyone else in the sports hall where a stage had been built up. The head teacher from the Moisio school greeted all the guests and students from Austria and Germany. The Austrian head teacher, Mr. Helmut Kainz and the German leader Mrs Gudrun Kirschke introduced their groups and spoke about the goals of the Comenius project to the Finnish students and teachers. At the end, we were surprised with some cultural music which was sung and played by 5 Finnish students.
Then we started with the presentations. Every country was introduced. Students of all nations gave information about political systems, countryside, school system, national and regional specialties.
In the auditorium not only the Comenius students listened to the reports there were also other interested Finnish students.
After having lunch we got to know about the results of the survey which each school made in preparation of our meeting in Finland. We continued working on chosen questions in small international groups. The questions dealt with the topics of school environment and social cohesion. The students discussed and tried to find out solutions. That will be presented tomorrow.
After working all students went bowling together.
